Christina Jean
My name is Christina Jean; I have been sewing and designing since I was 9 years old. My Mom was the 4-H sewing group leader, and she did not let me get away with curvy seams, unfinished edges, or anything else of the sort. I won a lot of awards because she taught me to sew well, but now I am truly thankful for my sewing skills because designing has become my life and career.
I went to school at Sonoma State and ended up with a French degree instead of a Business degree after I lived for a year in Aix-en-Provence, France. I found the language and culture irresistible, and continued my studies in French when I returned to the states. My dream was always to be a designer, so I went back to school for Fashion Design in San Francisco. I currently work for a designer as his production assistant in San Francisco. I, also, have my own design company and am pursuing my dream.
My grandma is a sewer and a weaver, my mom is a sewer and all-around crafty woman, so I naturally grew up to love sewing. The best thing about sewing is being able to make something that you dream up in your head and have it come to life with fabric. Fabric is my muse, fun patterns and materials with a nice hand keep my ideas flowing.
I grew up in the country, which is where a lot of my inspiration comes from, but I now live in San Francisco where I have started a Limited Edition T-shirt collection. The
T-shirts are Organic cotton and made in the USA. I make by hand each collage; there is no pattern piece so they are all a little different. It is like wearing a little piece of artwork around with you.
