This Spring/Summer 2009 line was inspired by the power struggle in Nigeria concerning the precious resource of the crude oil. The aesthetics of the garments contain elements that the MEND militants wear. This reflected my exploration of the power struggle not only in concerns with the Niger Delta, but also the larger scheme of sustainable fabrics (most of those included are remnants from larger company’s left overs), traditional elements such as the 80’s power shoulders, and the impact of a man in a suit.
