Miranda Caroligne
Miranda Caroligne represents the work of Miranda C. Burns. Her designs have been available to the public since August 2001, however, she has been creating textile arts all of her life. Mentored by her mother, a teacher and artist of many veins, she was raised with a needle in one hand and a pile of scrap fabric in another. Formally trained and licensed as a Physical Therapist (MSPT), Miranda has her own unique way of creating and tailoring garments to move with the mechanics of the body.
Miranda Caroligne makes a statement on diminishing waste in every piece of her wearable sculptures. Her work incorporates recycled materials chosen more for their history than their aesthetic, often honoring age and experiential decay. The evolved biomechanical forms that arise from her public studio often compel the wearer to dance, play and behave fantastically.
December 2005 marked a new era for Miranda Caroligne, when she moved her public studio into her own boutique, Miranda Caroligne - a living construction boutique, located at 485 14th street @ Guerrero in the Mid-Market/Mission District of San Francisco.
